Dale Donnelly Memorial Golf Tournament

Dale Donnelly: an icon in the San Diego Marine Industry; a wonderful man who lost his battle to cancer.

In 2004, close friends of Dale Donnelly decided to host the first Dale Donnelly Memorial Golf Tournament in celebration of the life and spirit of their great friend and colleague. The event is now held annually in August at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley. Funds raised are designated to the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital, helping to “restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in patient care, education and advocacy” here in San Diego, in Dale’s memory.

The Dale Donnelly Memorial Golf Tournament has raised more than $100,000 in the past eight years.

This isn’t your ordinary golf tournament – in addition to a round of golf, golfers also hit marshmallows for the drive and can be awarded with the Dale Donnelly version of the Master’s jackets.

Not only is this event raising funds for Rady Children’s Hospital, but the hosts have also found great success in a special program offered during their tournament. Golfers are given the opportunity to sponsor active duty military personnel to play as their guests during the golf tournament, proving the experience to be very popular and a growing trend each year.

The Dale Donnelly Memorial Golf Tournament has become an incredibly fun and memorable fundraising event, providing much needed funding for Rady Children’s and honoring the spirit of an exceptional man!
