CBS Radio San Diego: Creating a Holiday of Miracles

For many San Diego families, the sound of San Diego comes from CBS Radio. But great music from local favorites KyXy 96.5 and ENERGY 103.7 is only the beginning.

CBS Radio sponsors two amazing events to support the patients and families at Rady Children’s – and the results are music to the ears:  CBS Radio has raised more than $830,000 since 2010 for the Hospital.

ENERGY 103.7 kicks off the holiday season with AJ’s Kids’ Crane, which brought in more than 101,000 toys for patients and their siblings last year. AJ Machado, Energy 103.7 morning show host, lives atop a 30-foot-high tower “crane,” staying as long as he needs to until he reaches his goal of collecting new, unwrapped toys. “Something as simple as a toy can make the fear and pain of a child’s illness or injury easier to bear,” says AJ. “The toys we collect now will brighten the lives of thousands of children receiving treatment at Rady Children’s over the next 12 months.”

AJ’s Kids Crane will begin on November 8, 2013.

Once AJ comes down from the crane, KyXy 96.5 keeps the holiday spirit alive with the Holiday of Miracles Campaign.  Throughout the year, CBS Radio and Rady Children’s partner to encourage local businesses to support Rady Children’s through their own fundraising efforts. Then, during the Campaign – this year from Nov. 18-Dec. 22 -- KyXy 96.5 offers online and on air promotions for those fundraising events.  It’s a win-win, especially for the kids at the Hospital!

The highlight of the Campaign is the Holiday of Miracles Radiothon.  Listeners learn more about Rady Children’s and are inspired by stories from our patients and their families. The Radiothon is one of Rady Children’s top fundraisers, and it would not be possible without the generous support from CBS Radio, sponsors, and call-in and online donations. Last year, the Radiothon raised over $280,000 for Rady Children’s.

The Holiday of Miracles Radiothon will be broadcast live on KyXy 96.5, from Rady Children’s on December 12 and 13.

Thank you CBS Radio San Diego for making miracles happen, during the holidays and all year long.
