Hyundai Hope on Wheels

Hyundai Hope On Wheels is the united effort of Hyundai Motor America and its more than 800 dealers across the United States to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to celebrate the lives of the brave children battling the disease.

The program began 15 years ago as a local initiative supported by a group of New England-area Hyundai dealers. Together, those dealers raised money for childhood cancer research through the Jimmy Fund at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Their grassroots efforts have grown into the national nonprofit organization Hyundai Hope On Wheels, whose signature program Rady Children’s has been fortunate to participate in. Through 2012, Hyundai and its dealers donated more than $57 million to support the fight against childhood cancer, and have donated $475,000 to Rady Children’s Hospital since 2007.

Childhood cancer is a serious illness that unfortunately affects far too many kids. But through research at leading institutions such as Rady Children’s, there have been significant developments that have led to a growing survival rate on the most common forms of cancer.

Each of the Hyundai Hope Grants have been presented to Rady Children’s at a signature Handprint Ceremony. This ceremony captures the colorful handprints of young cancer patients and places them on the newest white Hyundai Tucson, the official vehicle of the program in 2012. Every Handprint Ceremony celebrates the lives of children facing with cancer and commemorates their brave battles.

We thank Hyundai Hope on Wheels for helping us to raise awareness about childhood cancer.
